Rs 70 cr being spent on roads, cellular network further strengthened : Naeem Akhtar | KNO

Terming Tanghdar as a high potential area, Minister for Public Works Naeem Akhtar today said that the overall communication network in the region will be strengthened with the investment of record Rs 70 crore on roads and installation of additional cellular towers for enhanced signals.

The Minister said that the economic potential of Tanghdar can be unlocked once people can move freely and safely from town centre to the border areas. Speaking to a gathering of people at various places, the Minister said that Tangdhar can produce high quality walnuts, olive, citrus and other fruits and vegetables in huge numbers and send it to other parts of state as well as country. “Communication network will bring in new ideas, take produce to anywhere, transfer technology at amazing pace and thus increase the pace of socio-economic development of the region,” said the Minister.

          The Minister said that it for the first time that Rs 70 crores are being spent on upgradation, widening and macadamisation of roads in Tanghdar. The road projects also include two CRF projects-Dhani Tadd and Tangdhar Gabra- costing around Rs 32 crores. The Minister said that the project will be completed within a span of two years. He reiterated the Government’s commitment of taking development to each and every corner of the state.

Speaking to people at Tadd the Minister said that the road projects will shorten the distance between Sub-Division headquarters and border villages. He said that the two kilometer problematic patch on Tadd road and the bypass bridge will also be taken up for construction at the earliest. He said that better roads will bring every facility be it schools, mandis, hospitals, fire exchange etc at the shortest disposal of people.

          The Minister also inaugurated a new building of Government High School Gundshart built by R&B department under RMSA scheme at a cost of Rs 39 lakh. While addressing students, the Minister said that their aim should be emerge as a skilled person while coming out of the school or college. He said that the students should be taken to tour to Srinagar to acclimatize them with new ideas of livelihood and academic avenues. He advised the students to do away with government job syndrome and start their own livelihood with full support from government.

          The Minister also visited Teetwal and reviewed pace of various projects. He said that the Government believes that opening and strengthening of road networks will lead to exchange of ideas and catalyse the development. He said that all roads be it intra-Kashmir or Inter-Kashmir need to open up for the good of people of this state.
